The early years of your child’s life are some of the most magical around. You get to spend a lot of time watching all the big moments and subtle changes as your child grows. And while there’s nothing better than getting to witness all of this, it can sometimes make you feel a little stir-crazy. It’s hard to get out of the house when you’re tied down to nursing sessions and nap times. One of the best things you can do is find regular baby-friendly activities that will let your little one explore while you get to see other adults. Here are some of my favorite baby activities in Houston.
6200 Hermann Park Drive, Houston, Texas 77030
The Houston Zoo is a gorgeous space to take your baby stroller and go for a long walk with activities along the way. The zoo is home to over 6,000 animals, including red pandas, otters, penguins, and cheetahs. Early on, you can stop by the children’s zoo, where your baby can go and pet some really adorable goats. As they get a little older, your child will be able to scale their rocket-themed playground or take a turn on the carousel. There are nursing stations strategically placed around the park, and you can find snack kiosks with kid-friendly options.
1500 Binz Street, Houston, Texas 77004
Children’s Museum Houston gives your baby a place where they can learn from hands-on activities. You can stop by exhibits that invite your child to test out their own inventions, find out how things work, or explore cultures from around the world. Even younger babies can find something to do over in Tot*Spot. This area was designed for kids ages 0-2 and provides them with activities that encourage sensory exploration, social communication, and problem-solving. This area also has an on-site nursing area. After you’re done here, check out the Toddler Trail that runs throughout the museum so you can find fun activities for your child everywhere you look.
1500 McKinney, Houston, Texas 77010
If you need the perfect activities for your baby and the entire Houston family, head on over to Discovery Green. This 12-acre spot was designed to give everyone in the community a place where they would feel welcomed. There are parking options around, including metered street parking, surface lots, and parking garages. Once you’re on the site, you can check out the splash pad. Or stay dry on the playground designed for kids of all ages. The area is elevated by beautiful gardens scattered throughout the land. There are also regular events, including concerts and Toddler Tuesdays, as well as restaurants where you can stop by and leave feeling refreshed.
If you need a way to get out of the house with your baby, check out these baby activities in Houston! With all three spots, you can get out and socialize while letting your child explore.
